Hyster Forklift traces its history back all the way to 1929 when the Willimette Ersted Company was formed. The company originally manufactured winches and logging carriers from its headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
The company built its first forklift truck in 1935 with a capacity of 3 tons. Further development led to a Jumbo 7 ton, "Handy Andy" and "Handy Harry" model.
The company changed its name to Hyster in 1944 and subsequent post WWII years saw the company build new factories in Danville IL, Nijmegen, The Netherlands, Irvine Scotland, and many more.
